"Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon (babycenter.com)."
The other thing that babycenter.com says is that we are only 4 weeks away from the third trimester, only 4 weeks away from the last 1/3 of the pregnancy. This second trimester is just flying by. Tonight we went to Babies R Us and finished our registry. We still need to register at Target for some things, but the bulk of registering is done. Soon it will be the holidays, then baby showers, and somehow we'll blink our eyes and we'll be stepping into delivery. Everyone always says how quickly a pregnancy goes and you don't believe them until you are questioning where time has gone. I'm doing my best to help keep us organized and on top of things so we are prepared. That is mommy B's job; not as hard as pregnancy, but it has its stress producers as well.
Wendy is doing well. In a week she will go back to the doc and it will be time for her glucose tolerance test. We're not worried though because she has had good sugar levels throughout the pregnancy so far.
Daily I look at her in profile and I'm filled with butterflies. I feel so blessed to have found the love of my life and to have our baby on the way. We have two of the best dads you could ask for for our son and an excited and welcoming family to boot. We've come a long way in the five years we have been together.
